Meet The Face Behind Sly Dog Production

I’m Rusty Squire, the proud owner of Sly Dog Production.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

When I was younger, I diligently worked on print, film, and television shows with the likes of ESPN, Outdoor Life, and Esquire magazine. It inspired me to start a pioneering video production company in 2011.

Over the past eight years, my firm has progressed from a drone video company to a fully-fledged production house. In the early days, I had a pilot’s license, and until 2016 you needed a pilot’s license to fly a drone commercially. After the law changed, I quickly expanded into higher-end Super 35MM production cameras and began rendering work for television.

Recently, I have noticed that the video production industry has become significantly diluted. Any kid with a DSLR camera, a few lights, and a little sound gear can call themselves a filmmaker. This has made professional video making very much a “buyers beware” market.

Fortunately, most consumers today want to work with companies that have big names on their resume like we do having shot for the BBC, Pittsburgh Steelers, California State University system, major political campaigns, and a host of businesses. This helps the consumer understand that a company has been thoroughly vetted and is legitimate. 

Our business values of honesty, integrity, and hard work have also been factors that have contributed to our success. Besides these core values, I owe it to our team of specialists that possess all the talent necessary to create excellent deliverables. Our team includes expert sound engineers, editors, production assistants, gaffers, grips, and focus pullers. I’m also privileged to have Emmy award-winning producer David Routt and Emmy award-winning cameraman Brad White at our disposal. 

When I am not producing videos, my hobbies include fly fishing and cycling. I was also a former member of the U.S. Ski Team and continue to participate in the sport.
